How to do an ownership change?

First, the client would need to answer these questions; 

What is the reason they want to update the ownership? 

  • if it’s because the company has changed hands, we need to know the name of the new company so we can run a conflict check. 
  •  if it’s because the company was sold, we need to know if the sale has taken place already.  
  • was a new entity created or was a name change simply done? We will need the incorporation papers. 

Second, the client will need to confirm the following information; 


Answer separately for Old Owner (Assignor) and New Owner (Assignee)

  • Name of business entity
  • Type of business entity (LLC, partnership, corporation, etc.)

  • Address of primary place of business

  • State or Country of organization/incorporation

  • Signatory of the company and title

  • Email
